Recuerden que todo lo que hagamos con nuestro cuerpo hoy repercutir\u00e1 en los futuros a\u00f1os sea para bien o para mal, sobre todo en la tercera edad. Entonces, <strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es actividad f\u00edsica?, \u00bfEs lo mismo qu\u00e9 el ejercicio f\u00edsico?<\/strong>, muchas veces nos confundimos pensando que la actividad f\u00edsica es lo mismo que un ejercicio f\u00edsico. Hay una diferencia grande, se podr\u00eda decir, que la actividad f\u00edsica es cualquier movimiento corporal que es realizado por los m\u00fasculos esquel\u00e9ticos del cuerpo, donde involucra un gasto de energ\u00eda, como juntar las hojas que caen en la vereda, encerar el auto o la casa. Estas acciones se definen como: AVD, actividades de la vida diaria. La diferencia en el ejercicio f\u00edsico es el prop\u00f3sito. Debe existir una intenci\u00f3n de mejorar algunas de las capacidades f\u00edsicas del ser humano como: la flexibilidad, la velocidad, la resistencia o la fuerza. Los adultos mayores comienzan a tener un desgaste propio de la edad, sus huesos por ejemplo van perdiendo calcio, especialmente las mujeres en etapa de menopausia. Por otra parte, los hombres que han hecho ejercicios durante much\u00edsimos a\u00f1os en su juventud, tal vez desgastaron sus articulaciones y ahora est\u00e1n en una etapa de sedentarismo. Ser sedentario no es lo mismo que la inactividad f\u00edsica. El sedentarismo, es la no realizaci\u00f3n de ejercicio f\u00edsico durante 30 minutos, por lo menos tres d\u00edas a la semana. Una persona activa tiene que realizar ejercicios cinco d\u00edas a la semana, por lo menos 30 minutos. Entonces, si tal vez no realizamos durante cinco d\u00edas a la semana al menos 30 minutos de ejercicios, estamos cayendo en la inactividad f\u00edsica. En el adulto mayor hay una serie de cambios biol\u00f3gicos, f\u00edsicos, psicol\u00f3gicos y sociales. La organizaci\u00f3n mundial de la salud en el a\u00f1o 1959, en un documento llamado: aspectos de la salud p\u00fablica en los ancianos, describe la importancia de comprender el declive de estas capacidades, para poder ayudar a tener una mejor calidad de vida. Tambi\u00e9n se menciona en ese art\u00edculo, que la mejor forma de medir la salud de los adultos mayores, es a trav\u00e9s de la funcionalidad. Son funcionales o independientes cuando se pueden valer por s\u00ed mismos.<\/p><p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Los beneficios del ejercicio f\u00edsico en el adulto mayor son: mejorar el autocuidado; ayudar a la integraci\u00f3n del esquema corporal; favorecer la integraci\u00f3n intergeneracional y social; prevenir lesiones y ca\u00eddas; mejorar la coordinaci\u00f3n y equilibrio; propiciar la calidad de sue\u00f1o; disminuir los trastornos de insomnio, ansiedad, estr\u00e9s y depresi\u00f3n. Estos beneficios engloban un concepto que se conoce como envejecimiento activo. Es una condici\u00f3n ideal en la evoluci\u00f3n y el crecimiento de un individuo en sociedad.<\/p><p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Para finalizar, es importante considerar otro aspecto del ejercicio f\u00edsico en un adulto mayor. Muchas veces, incluso nosotros, pecamos en no realizar un precalentamiento previo al ejercicio f\u00edsico. Esto puede ocasionar lesiones graves a nivel articular o muscular, que en un anciano, puede significar p\u00e9rdida de independencia, y en muchos casos, caer en una condici\u00f3n de fragilidad.<\/p><p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Lic.
