Tiene 70 a\u00f1os, es activa, camina todos los d\u00edas, pero una ca\u00edda en la vereda cambi\u00f3 su rutina de golpe. La mu\u00f1eca izquierda estaba hinchada, sensible, y no pod\u00eda sostener ni una taza de t\u00e9. La radiograf\u00eda confirm\u00f3 lo que sospech\u00e1bamos: una <strong data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"627\">fractura distal de radio<\/strong> con desplazamiento m\u00ednimo.<\/p><p data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"913\">Este tipo de lesiones son frecuentes en personas con <strong data-start=\"709\" data-end=\"725\">osteoporosis<\/strong>, sobre todo tras ca\u00eddas de baja energ\u00eda. Afortunadamente, con el tratamiento y la rehabilitaci\u00f3n adecuada, Mar\u00eda pudo recuperar su funcionalidad. Hoy quiero contarte c\u00f3mo fue ese proceso.<\/p><hr data-start=\"915\" data-end=\"918\" \/><h2 data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"978\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es tan com\u00fan esta fractura en adultos mayores?<\/h2><p data-start=\"980\" data-end=\"1292\">Las ca\u00eddas son una de las principales causas de lesiones en personas mayores, y el hueso m\u00e1s afectado en estos casos suele ser el <strong data-start=\"1110\" data-end=\"1126\">radio distal<\/strong>, justo en la mu\u00f1eca. Con la edad, la densidad \u00f3sea disminuye, especialmente en pacientes con osteoporosis, lo que aumenta el riesgo de fracturas a\u00fan en ca\u00eddas leves.<\/p><p data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1453\">En Mar\u00eda, la combinaci\u00f3n de una ca\u00edda hacia adelante y el reflejo natural de poner las manos para amortiguar el golpe fue suficiente para que el hueso cediera.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1458\" \/><h2 data-start=\"1460\" data-end=\"1512\">Etapa inicial: control del dolor e inmovilizaci\u00f3n<\/h2><p data-start=\"1514\" data-end=\"1706\">En la <strong data-start=\"1520\" data-end=\"1534\">fase aguda<\/strong>, el objetivo principal fue estabilizar la fractura y aliviar el dolor. Mar\u00eda recibi\u00f3 un yeso, que deb\u00eda mantener durante aproximadamente seis semanas. Durante este tiempo:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1947\"><li data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1768\"><p data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1768\"><strong data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1742\">Indicamos terapia analg\u00e9sica<\/strong> para el manejo del dolor.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1862\"><p data-start=\"1771\" data-end=\"1862\">Trabajamos la <strong data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"1821\">movilidad de los dedos y el codo<\/strong> desde el primer d\u00eda para evitar rigidez.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"1947\"><p data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1947\">Le ense\u00f1amos t\u00e9cnicas para dormir mejor con el yeso y evitar posiciones dolorosas.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1949\" data-end=\"2156\">Es com\u00fan sentirse limitada durante esta etapa, y Mar\u00eda no fue la excepci\u00f3n. Lo m\u00e1s importante fue explicarle paso a paso lo que \u00edbamos a trabajar y c\u00f3mo cada acci\u00f3n apuntaba a <strong data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2155\">recuperar su independencia<\/strong>.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2158\" data-end=\"2161\" \/><h2 data-start=\"2163\" data-end=\"2219\">Primeros movimientos: volver a usar la mano sin miedo<\/h2><p data-start=\"2221\" data-end=\"2415\">Una vez que se retir\u00f3 el yeso, empezamos con movimientos pasivos suaves de la mu\u00f1eca. Esta etapa es clave para evitar que la articulaci\u00f3n se vuelva r\u00edgida. En la <strong data-start=\"2383\" data-end=\"2400\">fase subaguda<\/strong>, introdujimos:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2417\" data-end=\"2719\"><li data-start=\"2417\" data-end=\"2497\"><p data-start=\"2419\" data-end=\"2497\"><strong data-start=\"2419\" data-end=\"2460\">Movilizaci\u00f3n pasiva y activa asistida<\/strong>, siempre dentro de rangos indoloros.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2498\" data-end=\"2601\"><p data-start=\"2500\" data-end=\"2601\"><strong data-start=\"2500\" data-end=\"2548\">Ejercicios isom\u00e9tricos de mu\u00f1eca y antebrazo<\/strong>, para comenzar a reactivar la musculatura sin carga.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2719\"><p data-start=\"2604\" data-end=\"2719\"><strong data-start=\"2604\" data-end=\"2640\">Movilidad funcional de los dedos<\/strong>, con movimientos espec\u00edficos como hacer pinza o tocar cada dedo con el pulgar.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2721\" data-end=\"2901\">Los avances eran lentos, pero constantes. Cada grado de movilidad recuperado representaba una peque\u00f1a victoria para Mar\u00eda, que empezaba a volver a usar su mano con mayor confianza.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"2906\" \/><h2 data-start=\"2908\" data-end=\"2967\">Recuperar fuerza y precisi\u00f3n: fortalecimiento progresivo<\/h2><p data-start=\"2969\" data-end=\"3231\">En la tercera fase, ya con la fractura consolidada, pasamos al <strong data-start=\"3032\" data-end=\"3061\">fortalecimiento funcional<\/strong>. El foco fue ayudar a Mar\u00eda a recuperar la fuerza de agarre y la coordinaci\u00f3n fina que necesitaba para tareas cotidianas, como abrir una botella o abotonarse una camisa.<\/p><p data-start=\"3233\" data-end=\"3270\">Los ejercicios que usamos incluyeron:<\/p><ul data-start=\"3272\" data-end=\"3488\"><li data-start=\"3272\" data-end=\"3326\"><p data-start=\"3274\" data-end=\"3326\"><strong data-start=\"3274\" data-end=\"3325\">Apretar pelotas de goma de distinta resistencia<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"3327\" data-end=\"3407\"><p data-start=\"3329\" data-end=\"3407\"><strong data-start=\"3329\" data-end=\"3364\">Ejercicios con bandas el\u00e1sticas<\/strong>, para trabajar los m\u00fasculos del antebrazo.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"3408\" data-end=\"3488\"><p data-start=\"3410\" data-end=\"3488\"><strong data-start=\"3410\" data-end=\"3449\">Entrenamiento con pinzas y pinzitas<\/strong>, para mejorar la precisi\u00f3n del agarre.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"3490\" data-end=\"3627\">Tambi\u00e9n sumamos ejercicios de estabilidad, como <strong data-start=\"3538\" data-end=\"3574\">soporte sobre superficies suaves<\/strong>, que ayudan a restablecer la confianza en la mu\u00f1eca.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3629\" data-end=\"3632\" \/><h2 data-start=\"3634\" data-end=\"3676\">Reintegraci\u00f3n a las actividades diarias<\/h2><p data-start=\"3678\" data-end=\"3894\">La \u00faltima etapa se enfoc\u00f3 en que Mar\u00eda pudiera volver a sus actividades con seguridad. Reaprendimos juntas tareas tan simples como <strong data-start=\"3809\" data-end=\"3893\">sostener un plato caliente, lavar los platos o usar el celular con una sola mano<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"3896\" data-end=\"3965\">En esta fase de <strong data-start=\"3912\" data-end=\"3935\">reintegro funcional<\/strong>, tambi\u00e9n hicimos hincapi\u00e9 en:<\/p><ul data-start=\"3967\" data-end=\"4295\"><li data-start=\"3967\" data-end=\"4094\"><p data-start=\"3969\" data-end=\"4094\"><strong data-start=\"3969\" data-end=\"4015\">Estrategias de prevenci\u00f3n de nuevas ca\u00eddas<\/strong>: mejorar el equilibrio, adecuar el calzado y reorganizar espacios en el hogar.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"4095\" data-end=\"4206\"><p data-start=\"4097\" data-end=\"4206\"><strong data-start=\"4097\" data-end=\"4129\">Educaci\u00f3n sobre osteoporosis<\/strong>: hablamos de alimentaci\u00f3n, exposici\u00f3n al sol, vitamina D y actividad f\u00edsica.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"4207\" data-end=\"4295\"><p data-start=\"4209\" data-end=\"4295\"><strong data-start=\"4209\" data-end=\"4255\">Ejercicios de mantenimiento para la mu\u00f1eca<\/strong>, que ella misma pod\u00eda realizar en casa.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"4297\" data-end=\"4426\">Despu\u00e9s de 10 semanas, Mar\u00eda hab\u00eda recuperado casi por completo la movilidad y hab\u00eda vuelto a su caminata diaria con una sonrisa.<\/p><hr data-start=\"4428\" data-end=\"4431\" \/><h2 data-start=\"4433\" data-end=\"4496\">Reflexiones: la importancia de la prevenci\u00f3n y la constancia<\/h2><p data-start=\"4498\" data-end=\"4733\">Acompa\u00f1ar a una persona mayor en una recuperaci\u00f3n post-fractura implica mucho m\u00e1s que ejercicios. Es un proceso de <strong data-start=\"4613\" data-end=\"4650\">reconstrucci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y emocional<\/strong>, donde la paciencia, la empat\u00eda y el seguimiento profesional marcan la diferencia.<\/p><p data-start=\"4735\" data-end=\"4956\">Las fracturas de mu\u00f1eca en adultos mayores son una alerta. Pero tambi\u00e9n una oportunidad para <strong data-start=\"4828\" data-end=\"4889\">detectar y tratar factores de riesgo como la osteoporosis<\/strong>, y para reforzar h\u00e1bitos que promuevan el bienestar a largo plazo.<\/p><hr data-start=\"4958\" data-end=\"4961\" \/><h2 data-start=\"4963\" data-end=\"5009\">\u00bfTuviste una fractura o una ca\u00edda reciente?<\/h2><p data-start=\"5011\" data-end=\"5192\">No esperes a que el dolor limite tu vida diaria.
